Unlocking and using shortcuts is perfectly fine and allows you to practice later areas without having to spend 20 minutes getting to it first. Simply complete the game by defeating the boss. The first step is quite straightforward and doesn’t warrant much explanation. Step 1: Complete the game without shortcuts Be advised that especially the Seen It All trophy contains very heavy spoilers, since it lists almost every single secret in the game. Under every trophy, I’ll only discuss spoilers that are relevant to the progress of earning it and the roadmap itself is completely spoiler free. If you’d rather find these out for yourself, play the game at your own pace first and refer to this guide when you’re ready. Obtaining the Platinum consists for the most part of beating the game, including the secret ending, completing three runs with very difficult extra conditions, finding all secrets and filling out the Journal.ĭue to the nature of the game, it is almost impossible to discuss it without spoiling the many surprises you might find along the way. Don’t be intimidated however, because exploring these secrets, getting better and learning from your many, many deaths is the most fun part of the game! Completing the game is very difficult but the true difficulty comes from finding the secret areas in the game, revealing that simply defeating the final boss is just the tip of the iceberg.
#Spelunky 2 walkthrough series#
The game is as fun as it is difficult and will often make you question why just wasted 30 minutes on a run, only to die to some ridiculous series of events you feel like you could have never seen coming. You’ll quickly notice that the game is much more difficult than it seems, as you’re likely to die from a single mistake on every single step you take. Not only is there a lot more to do, see and get killed by, it is also in many ways much more challenging this time around. If this is your first time playing Spelunky though, don’t worry, as Spelunky 2 is an excellent entry point to start the series, requiring no prior knowledge of the gameplay or the story. If you’re a veteran to the series, you might find that getting all trophies in Spelunky 2 is even more difficult than in the first game. I’d recommend dropping the bombs from the top before falling down unless you have either a jetpack or climbing gloves.Spelunky 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to Derek Yu's Spelunky, a rogue-like platformer, notorious for being very hard and filled to the bring with complicated secrets. This should take a total of four bombs to do. Use one bomb at a time to blow a hole in the floor sizable enough to make your way all the way down to the bottom. Instead, you’ll want to immediately start bombing the left-hand side of his chamber. Once you’ve entered the lair do not approach Olmec as this will trigger the boss fight.
This can save you a ton of time down the line. As a side note, there’s a shortcut unlockable right after Olmec’s Lair, so be sure to bring the appropriate item if you haven’t unlocked it yet. This can be found by finishing either of the World 2 stages. Obviously, the first step is to get to Olmec’s lair. And no, it doesn’t require any exploits or cheats.
In Spelunky 2 there is a strategy to completely avoid this boss fight and move on to world 4 without even fighting Olmec. I’m not going to waste your time talking about the fight’s mechanics or the best strategy to beat him, because you don’t need to know. Even so, you’ll still need to get past him in order to proceed to world 4. Olmec was the main boss of the original game, but in the sequel, he has been relegated to being a mere side boss. At the end of either the Jungle or Lava world, you’ll have to come face to face with Olmec, the first real boss in Spelunky 2.
